Springlake is located in the southwestern corner of Buckhead between Northside Drive and Howell Mill Road. While some tiny bungalows may be found in Springlake, a majority of the neighborhood is made up of new mansion style homes with sprawling yards. More than 90 percent of residents living in Springlake own their own home. The median home price in Springlake is $633,683, which is more than three times the national average of $184,700, making it a rather pricey neighborhood.

Since less than 10 percent of residents live in rentals, the rental market is scarce and there are no apartment complexes in Springlake. The closest apartments are in the Peachtree Battle Alliance neighborhood, which is home to Sterling Collier Hills Apartments and CoHo Apartments. Springlake residents who are renters usually lease condos or homes in the area. The median monthly rent in Springlake is $1,388, which is higher than the national average of $949.

Springlake itself does not offer many restaurants, but nearby Midtown and Buckhead have plenty of casual and fine dining options. Local residents who just want to get a quick bite can head to the south side of Springlake off Collier Road and Howell Mill Road. This is where McDonald’s, Chipotle and the Flying Biscuit Café, a southern-style breakfast and lunch restaurant, are located.


Although Springlake is nestled in the suburbs of Buckhead, there is still plenty for residents to do. One of the greatest benefits of owning real estate in the area is the proximity to beautiful parks. Atlanta Memorial Park is not a part of Springlake but it is just to the east. This park offers over 70 acres of greenspace, including a dog park and jogging trail. Beaverbrook Park is also located near Springlake and includes softball fields, walking trails and playgrounds for children. This makes the area great for individuals and families that enjoy the outdoors.

Within the perimeter of Springlake is Howell Mill Village, a strip mall with several useful shops for local residents. This shopping area includes a Rite-Aid, Publix, nail salons and several bank chains. Springlake residents also have the convenience of traveling to nearby Atlantic Station for several additional shopping opportunities.

Almost all Springlake residents use their own cars when commuting to work in the city or traveling to popular shopping and dining destinations around the area. The neighborhood of Springlake is conducive to biking, walking and jogging but the area is not usually walkable for most residents when traveling to local establishments or commuting to work.


The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) is a train and bus system that runs several lines throughout Atlanta and its surrounding neighborhoods. There are three convenient bus stations on the westside of Springlake for residents who want to utilize public transportation. The MARTA stations are on Howell Mill Road at Collier Road, Spring Lake Place and Glenbrook Drive. Bus route 12 picks up passengers at these stations and can take them into Midtown.

The Northside Beltline Trail is also close to Springlake. Residents who want to bike, walk or jog the trail can hop on at Springlake Park and head north into Buckhead. This portion of the Beltline is known as some of the most scenic trails throughout the entire project.

Homes in Springlake communities are also recommended for families who emphasize close-knit community bonds. The Springlake Civic Association hosts neighborhood meetings, oversees park maintenance and organizes community events to ensure neighbors stay involved.

The properties in Springlake are zoned for nearby Atlanta Public Schools. Children living in homes in this area attend Morris Brandon Elementary School, Sutton Middle School and North Atlanta High School. All schools have relatively high rankings but many parents choose to enroll their children in private schools instead. Some of the closest private schools to Springlake include:

  • The Westminster School
  • Pace Academy
  • Atlanta International School
  • Christ the King School
  • Atlanta Speech School

Keep in mind that private schools in Georgia may require parents to provide their own transportation, pay tuition and complete enrollment tests with children.

Another reason potential residents seek real estate in Springlake is because of the low crime ratings. The violent crime ratings are far below the national averages, and the property crime rating is less than half of the national average, with only 224 burglaries reported compared to the 500 average.
