The average rental cost for a unit in SoNo is $1,619, which is higher than 85 percent of other Georgia neighborhoods. For those looking to live in SoNo on a temporary basis, some of the newer buildings offer short-term leases, as well. One of the highlights of living in the SoNo homes in Atlanta is the flourishing food scene. There are plenty of dining opportunities to check out varying from vegan fare all the way to award-winning wings. Some of the culinary highlights in the area include:

Perhaps one of the most notable highlights in SoNo, outside of the luxury rental units and growing real estate is the walkability of the neighborhood. SoNo is ranked the seventh most walkable neighborhood in Atlanta with a walk score of 88 out of 100. You can accomplish many daily errands on foot and people in SoNo can even walk to on average to nine restaurants, coffee shops or bars in around five minutes.

In addition to walkability, SoNo also has decent public transportation and biking scores. For potential residents who do not have a car, the transit score for the neighborhood is 66 out of 100. The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rail system has a stop near the Civic Center, and the Route 40 bus also travels through SoNo. Biking in SoNo is also an option, as the bike score ranks 69 out of 100. This means that there are bike lanes available as well as bike racks throughout the area, so residents have a place to secure their bikes when they’re not in use.

It is important for residents within the SoNo area to feel safe where they live, which is why understanding the crime rate is critical. While spots along the Beltline in general tend to be high in crime, especially when compared to the suburbs of Atlanta, SoNo still ranks as one of the safer areas in the city. SoNo ranks in the middle in terms of neighborhood safety in Atlanta and crimes tend to be minor, with more theft than violent crimes being committed in the area. However, with the ongoing renovation and revitalization projects in the works for SoNo, it is only a matter of time before safety rankings increase.
