Atlanta is known for having some of the most luxurious homes in the nation, surrounded by quaint Southern culture and world-class local amenities. Less well-known is that Atlanta properties offer much more space for the price you pay than most other major cities in the country. More people are choosing ATL condos for sale every year to take advantage of the extra room and to take part in the growing culinary and art scenes.

The prices for local condos are based a lot more on square footage, rather than number of rooms. Common luxury amenities that make the price worth it are hardwood floors, a full-size kitchen with stainless steel appliances, floor-to-ceiling windows and access to 24-hour concierge services. Generally, you can expect prices like these for condos for sale across the city:

  • Under 1,000 square feet: $100,000 – 350,000
  • Between 1,000 and 2,000 square feet: $300,000 – $700,000
  • Over 2,000 square feet: $800,000 – $1.5 million

Some of the most extravagant condos for sale in Atlanta are located in the northern neighborhoods of Buckhead. Buckhead has its own business district along the major thoroughfare, Peachtree Road. These upscale neighborhoods are less crowded than those in Midtown and Downtown, which allows for larger condos with more amenities. Residents often enjoy the addition of larger rooms, granite countertops, balconies and beautiful views of the surrounding forests. Consider these neighborhoods during your search for local properties:

  • Buckhead Heights
  • Garden Hills
  • Ridgedale Park
  • Peachtree Heights East

The luxury condos available throughout this area put many residents within walking distance of the city’s best shopping and dining options. Much like the suburbs, exclusive golf courses and country clubs are also nearby for residents to explore, such as the City Club of Buckhead. Keep in mind that if you are living this far from the city center, it is a good idea to have a personal vehicle since public transportation is not as widespread as in areas farther south. Find your luxury condo in Buckhead and start living the high-life.

Common places to search for Atlanta condos is Downtown or Midtown. With the higher population density, a one bedroom condo is likely to be a little on the smaller side compared to those in Buckhead or elsewhere. However, that does not mean you have to compromise on amenities. Midtown properties have plenty of great perks like upgraded appliances and walk-in closets, as well as a thriving art scene. Walk over to Piedmont Park for a concert or watch from your private balcony in one of the following communities:

  • Midtown
  • Atlantic Station
  • Tech Square
  • Home Park

If you are looking to work in the heart of the main business district, one of the Downtown neighborhoods is ideal for you. Condos around here put you within walking distance of several fun activities, like the CNN Studio and the Georgia Aquarium. A Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transport Authority (MARTA) station is never too far away from your home when you live in one of these neighborhoods:

  • Castleberry Hill
  • SoNo
  • Peachtree Center
  • South Downtown

For those who prefer something more laid back, there are usually a few Atlanta condos for sale just outside of Downtown, mainly to the east of the city center. Though these neighborhoods are known more for Victorian single family homes and loft apartments in century-old warehouses, individuals who prefer more modern-style housing find cozy residences here as well. There are also a few renovated condos available in old local buildings, offering the best of both options for lucky buyers. Explore the following friendly and popular communities:

  • Inman Park
  • Old Fourth Ward
  • Cabbagetown
  • Poncey-Highland

A unique combination of urban style and the quaintness of the suburbs, residents find these communities to be more relaxed than Midtown but still very up-and-coming. The nearby BeltLine offers a great place to get some exercise and enjoy the Atlanta sunshine. While taking a stroll down the cobblestone streets lined with trees, you can find some of the best restaurants and shops in the city. Whether you picture yourself browsing the stalls of Krog Street Market or attending a local festival like the Inman Park Street Festival, you cannot go wrong buying a condo in this neck of the woods.
